General appearance is single or multiple raised, pearl-like bumps (papules) on the skin. These papules will have a central portion that is white and waxy and are less painful than warts,  which can be very tender.

Various treatments exist ie: pulse dye lasers, freezing, acid therapy, and antacid medication, but Molluscum Contagiosum lesions are more stubborn than common warts.  Surgically shaving/scraping the lesions has the best chance to eliminate the problem. This procedure is easily performed in the office with a local anesthetic.
