Bunion Slide Procedure
Are you struggling with symptoms of bunion deformity? Have you noticed a bulge coming out from your big toe, and that your big toe tends to lean in towards your second toe? These are common symptoms associated with bunions. You might also notice redness, irritation, and pain surrounding the affected area. Bunions are common foot problems, and they can develop for a number of reasons. In some cases, bunions develop as a result of a structural defect. In other cases, they can develop over time due to wearing bad shoes, as a result of your genetic blueprints, or as a result of other medical conditions like arthritis. Here at AFP Podiatry LTD., our goals are to eliminate bunion symptoms that our patients experience and restore the functionality of their feet and toes once again. One of the many Bunion treatment options that we offer is called The Minimal Incision Bunion Slide Procedure. The overall goal of this treatment is to restore the toes to their most optimal functional alignment and to undo the damage that the bunion deformity has done to that alignment. The first step of our bunion treatment is making a very small incision at the side of the foot, at a location that is barely noticeable. Then, we make another incision through the bone, which allows us to correct the joint’s alignment and place it in a more desirable position. After the procedure is completed, ambulation is permitted with appropriate bandages until healing is complete.
